Understanding care labels

Ah…those care labels ! Often overlooked, but so important. If linen care isn’t your strong point, let me explain how to understand our care labels.
Let’s start…with the beginning
Care labels guide you in caring for your textiles. They indicate washing, drying and ironing methods, as well as precautions to ensure fabric durability. You can find this information in the form of a symbol and/or text.
Care labels follow international standards. They use universal symbols to indicate washing, bleaching, drying, ironing and professional cleaning. Some manufacturers add text or QR codes to provide more detailed information. They can raise consumer awareness of eco-responsible practices, such as washing at low temperatures or using gentle products.
And at L’effet papillon, how are our care labels ?
Just like all the others ! But I can explain it all again.

You’re probably familiar with these pictograms, but how well do you know them all ?
- Precise wash temperature
- Approximate wash temperature
- Use of the iron, and at what temperature, bleaching
- Using a tumble dryer – drying without heat

If you read the maintenance tips correctly, you’ll win on several counts :
- Fabric quality will be preserved : you avoid shrinkage, discoloration or deformation of the fabric.
- Longer product life : you reduce premature fiber wear.
- Adopt more eco-responsible gestures : we encourage you to adopt more respectful care practices (such as limited tumble-drying).
By following our little care tips, you’ll enhance the beauty of L’effet Papillon linens.
